CALL for APPLICATION to the 2015 -2016

 Individual Study Program (ISP) at HEC Paris’ Doctoral Department

The Baltic Management Institute (BMI) in Vilnius is launching a program intended to promote PhD studies and Faculty development in the Baltic region to support the training of Baltic-based Faculty in management.

The BMI Fund is used to finance an annual scholarship in the Doctoral Department at HEC Paris, co-founder and primary partner of BMI, for a student pursuing a PhD in Management or faculty of a Business school in the region. The selected visiting PhD student will be enrolled in the Individual Study Program (ISP) of HEC Paris’ PhD Program.
BMI Fund covers the HEC/ISP annual tuition fee of 8 000 € and will also make a contribution of up to 3000 € to cover the travel cost and part of the accommodation expenses. The candidates will have to pay a non-refundable application fee of 50 €.

HEC Paris offers 7 areas of specialization: Accounting & Management Control, Decision Sciences, Finance, Organizations & Human Resources , Marketing, Operations Management, and Strategy & Management.

The Individual Study Program (ISP) of HEC Paris’ PhD Program is a customized program that addresses the academic needs of each visiting PhD student. The list of courses will be determined in close collaboration with the PhD Office and the professor supervising the visiting student. The program includes classes, seminars and the supervision of personal work by the professor.
Teaching is in English, therefore an excellent command of English is mandatory. Knowledge of French is an added bonus.

HEC Paris will award an HEC Paris ISP certificate to visiting PhD participants who have fulfilled all the terms and conditions of the program.

Courses start in early September.

 

APPLICATION PROCEDURE

Step 1: The candidate must send a completed application form consisting of the following two elements before the 4th May 2015:

–  A letter of motivation for applying to BMI Fund
–  A completed application form to HEC Paris ISP Program which must be accompanied by the requested documents. In particular, the candidate must provide a letter of recommendation from his/her home institution (Dean of Doctoral studies, Dean of faculty, senior Professor, etc…).

The candidate is expected to:

– Briefly present their academic environment
– Describe the subject and area of research in great detail as well as the progress of their thesis
– Outline any experiences in teaching and research
– Indicate their professional and career objectives

Step 2: The BMI Fund Committee selects the candidates eligible for funding. Individual interviews may be organized either face to face or through video/internet conferencing. BMI will send HEC Paris the files of the selected candidates.

Step 3: The final decision for the candidacy of the ISP Program and BMI scholarship is made by HEC’s academic authorities and will be announced before June 25 for the academic year 2015-2016.
