Man on Wire (2008) is a British documentary film by James Marsh, covering the history of French funambulist Philippe Petit, who became famous by walking between the two World Trade Center towers in New York City in August 1974. After a 1h journey between the twin towers without any kind of protection, he was arrested by the police who had him run mental tests in jail.

Based on Petit’s book To Reach the Clouds, Man on Wire is a sort of thriller with scenes from the preparation, the performance, interviews and remade scenes. It received several awards, including the Oscar for best documentary in 2009, and BAFTA of the best Brisith movie.

A unique and free screening is programmed at Sõprus on Thursday June 28th at 9pm as part of the Triennial of Graphic Arts.
