Tallinn

Opening of the photo exhibition 6 May at 6 pm; at the shopping centre Viru Keskus! Come join us! The competition received over a hundred photos and the best ten art workds will be on display at the exhibition in the atrium of Viru Keskus until end of June.

For the centennial anniversary of Roland Barthes, a major French thinker and semiotician, the French Institute invites you to read again his famous quotes and take a photo inspired by one of them. Barthes is the author of “Camera lucida”, a book about his reflection on photography, and it became the most cited text on photography. This time we are not only searching pleasure of text, but also looking for beauty and pleasure of images!

To take part in the”Barthes Vision” photo contest send your photograph to barthesvision@www.ife.ee  (JPEG format, minium size 1 MB). The photo has to be an illustration of the quote, but there is no need to write the quote on your picture. Add separately, which quote is being illustrated and a short motivation for choosing the photo.

The deadline to send your photo(s) is April 20th 2016.

A jury of photographers and semioticians will select 10 images that will be exhibited at the Viru Keskus shopping centre’s atrium on the first floor starting from May.

The main prize of the contest is a polaroid camera Fujifilm Instax Mini 90 Neo Classic.
