March 25, 2025

Conferences:

#March 31 in Tallinn (5:30 pm, Kuninga 4), in English;

#April 1 in Tartu (12:15 pm, Lossi 3, Room 116), in French.

Closing the Francophonie Month program, the French Institute of Estonia is pleased to welcome linguist Mathieu Goux (University of Caen; ENS Lyon). He will present a talk entitled “A Brief French History of Video Games”.

He will offer a historical overview of French video games, focusing on several companies and games that have shaped what has been described as the French Touch of video games.

The purpose of the conference will be to discuss the graphic, musical, and gaming innovations of French video games, as well as to revisit how the French language, and especially its variations and distortions, have influenced these various titles.

A convivial drink will then be served.

This event is open to all, free of charge, and no registration is required.
