Documentary: Baltic Souls, Arts, Legends and Landscapes

As the Baltic countries are celebrating the centenary of their independence, a new French documentary "Baltic souls - Arts, legends and landscapes" is available to watch online via the website of the Arte TV channel.

Baltic Souls – Arts, Legends and Landscapes

The documentary with English subtitles is now available here on Arte TV website!

After several centuries of occupation, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania finally gained their independence 100 years ago.

This 52-minute documentary from Stéphane Ghez traces the roots of popular culture in all three Baltic states, showing the ways in which folklore and myths have fuelled the arts over more than a century and how musicians, poets and artists built a sense of common belonging and heritage in these young nations.

The film coincides with an exhibition on Baltic Symbolism at the Musée d’Orsay in Paris!
