Tallinn

Twice a month, on Wednesdays at 6 p.m., we organise a screening of selected French films. At the French Institute in the centre of Tallinn, you can enjoy great French directors’ films with English subtitles. Come and discover the French film culture with your friends, we will provide snacks.

This year, our retrospective on great French filmmakers  will start  with Luc Besson. Surely one of the most famous French directors in the world, in particular with “Lucy” (2014) which was the most successful French movie abroad. To discover or rediscover this exceptional filmmaker, we offer a selection of 6 of his most cult films.

Wednesday 23 March, 6pm, we will present you “TAXI”, an action-comedy film written by Luc Besson, and directed by Gérard Pirès.

In terms of box office admissions, the Taxi series is one of the most successful French franchises ever!

Synopsis: Daniel (Samy Naceri) is the fastest delivery man for the local pizza parlor Pizza Joe in Marseille, France. Émilien (Frédéric Diefenthal) is a clumsy young detective and has just failed his 8th driver’s test. At work, no-one takes him seriously. One day, Émilien takes a taxi to work, and gets in Daniel’s car. Not knowing his fare’s occupation, Daniel reveals his racing modifications and breaks traffic laws several times. Émilien eventually apprehends Daniel. At the station, Émilien asks Daniel for help with a German gang in exchange for keeping his license.
