On Wednesday 10 December, in collaboration with Uus Laine, the Cin\u00e9 Club moves off-site.<\/h3>\n

We will be screening Les Ma\u00eetres du temps<\/em> (1982), a cornerstone of French animation and a defining work of science-fiction. The film marked a decisive break from the youth-oriented norm of the industry at the time. Adapted from Stefan Wul and visually crafted by Moebius, it presents a stark, tense universe where drawing becomes pure narrative tension.<\/p>\n

Ren\u00e9 Laloux stands at the centre of this shift. Emerging from the creative ecosystem that reshaped European sci-fi, he worked first with Roland Topor, then with Moebius, key figure of M\u00e9tal Hurlant<\/em>. This aesthetic matrix influenced an entire cinematic generation\u2014Ridley Scott\u2019s Alien<\/em>, early concepts of Tron<\/em>, later resonances in Lucas and Otomo. Les Ma\u00eetres du temps<\/em> follows this lineage: minimalist storytelling, moral ambiguity, precise and economical world-building. Still sharp, still modern, still relevant.<\/p>\n
