Tallinn

Born in 1980 in Estonia, Katrina Kalda arrived in France at the age of 10. Since 2010, she published 3 novels in French for Gallimard editions (Un roman estonien in 2010, Arithmétique des dieux in 2013, Le pays où les arbres n’ont pas d’ombre in 2016).

Her works explore the relations between personal and collective histories, for example in the context of Eastern European totalitarian regimes or through dystopia.

She won several prizes, including one from the prestigious Académie Française in 2013 for her contribution to the influence of French language.

She will have a discussion with author and translator Indrek Koff (in Estonian) about the perception of the world in her novels, on Friday May 25th at 7pm at Tallinn’s Writers House for the literature festival HeadRead.
