Jazz with distinctive sounds by Spring Roll

TALLINN, PÄRNU, TARTU

April 20, 2019 / April 23, 2019

The multifaceted French flutist Sylvaine Hélary brings the fascinating New Music of her Spring Roll quartet to northeastern Europe from 13 to 30 April 2019. The tour organized by the Vapaat äänet agency includes three concerts in Estonia as part of the Jazzkaar festival.

Spring Roll explores music with singular sounds. Playing on tones and resonances, it echoes the current of New Music while borrowing from the codes and playgrounds of jazz.

In 2016, Sylvaine Hélary decided to develop a new repertoire and called on three New York-based musician-composers: Kris Davis, Dan Blake and Matt Mitchell.

Through these orders, it was a question of going to meet new writings, by proposing Spring Roll as a creative ground for other pens. The new album is the result of all this journey and the adventure has continued ever since. In April, they toured Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, and Hungary for a three-week spring tour.
