Role, status, mandate

Founded in 1945 and a national public institution since 1987, the CIEP is recognised both in France and abroad for its skills with regard to expert evaluation, training, assessment, and management of international projects.

A key public operator for the Ministries of Education and Higher Education, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ main operating partner with regard to the French language, it contributes to the reflection on issues related to international cooperation in education. In carrying out its activities, it relies on a network of national and international experts and partners, and on the know-how of its 250-strong team.

Two focuses of activity: education (general, higher and vocational, and recognition of qualifications) and languages(French as a foreign language, assessment and certification in French, foreign languages and mobility).
